يعد السلوك الاجتماعي شكلا من أشكال السلوك الذي يتعلمه الفرد عن طريق مختلف المؤسسات الاجتماعية التي ينتمي إليها ، إذ أنها تبين مدى قوة أفراد المجتمع الواحد وتماسكهم وانسجامهم ، وتفصح عن سبل التودد والتعاون والإيثار الناتجة عن التفاعلات الاجتماعية التي تحدث في ضوء العلاقات التي تربط بين أفراد المجتمع ، كما أنها تعبير واضح عن مدى التزام الأفراد بالقيم والأنظمة والمعايير الخلقية للجماعة 
Social behavior is a form of behavior that the individual learns through the various social institutions to which he belongs, as it shows the extent of the strength, cohesion and harmony of the members of a single society, and reveals ways of courtship, cooperation and altruism resulting from the social interactions that occur in light of the relationships that bind the members of society. It is also a clear expression of the extent of individuals’ commitment to the values, systems, and moral standards of the group
